The Electron Support Chain's (ETC) main purpose is a collection of compounds along the inner membrane of the mitochondria. As electrons are passed through the ETC from NADH into oxygen, 3 H+'s are moved from the matrix into the inner membrane. FADH2 lets go of electrons to the inner membrane and the matrix. The high concentration of protons are brought together to create ATP when the high concentration protons go through the ATP synthase.
